Below are more details from Cris Hazzard, hiker extraordinaire. More information, including detailed directions and photos, is available at the Hiking Guy Website.
“This ‘best of’ Crystal Cove hike takes you on a loop trail offering pristine coastal nature, ocean views, and well-marked trails. You’ll take in the endangered native coastal sage scrub plant wilderness, which is how the area looked before it was developed, and then hike to heights where you’ll be able to see from the San Gabriel Mountains to Catalina.”
Where To Park For the Crystal Cove Hike?
“Crystal Cove State Park has several parking areas and entrances. Use this trailhead address for the hike: 8471 N Coast Hwy, Laguna Beach, CA, 92651. Once you turn off the Pacific Coast Highway, follow the directions below. There are some twists and turns to get to the correct parking area for the hike. There is a fee to park here, or you can use a California State Parks Pass.”
Other Information
There are bathrooms and water at the trailhead, and at the mid-way point on the hike.
Pro Tip: Although people do this hike in workout clothes, it’s a longer hike. Hiking Guy recommends proper hiking gear and includes recommendations on his site. Bring at least one liter of water and some snacks.
Join us for a challenging hike with ocean views and beautiful scenery! We’ll see you there.
